Firmus Signs Multi-Year Agreement with Global Hyperscale Customer at Project Southgate

Sydney / Singapore March 2, 2026

Firmus Technologies ("Firmus") has signed a long-term contract with a leading global technology company for dedicated AI infrastructure capacity at Project Southgate's first deployment in Australia. The contract is a multi-billion dollar commitment for approximately 18,400 NVIDIA GB300 GPUs to be deployed at the Melbourne facility.

It represents the second large-scale customer secured for Project Southgate, which is being developed as a multi-site AI factory program across Australia. The contract marks the arrival of hyperscale AI factories in Australia for the first time, positioning the country on a path to become a major producer and exporter of AI tokens globally.

"This agreement is a defining milestone for Firmus and for Australia's role in the global AI infrastructure landscape," said Tim Rosenfield, Co-CEO of Firmus. "As the second major contract secured under Project Southgate, it reflects growing market conviction in our approach. A commitment of this scale from one of the world's leading technology platforms validates what we've been building AI Factories that are co-designed from model to grid, where every decision in power, cooling and network is engineered for production performance at hyperscale. These AI Factories are purposely engineered to minimise resource use and maximise performance, with the specific output to generate the best TCO per AI token for our customers."

The Firmus AI Factory technology used throughout Project Southgate has been purpose-built for high-density AI workloads and engineered through a codesign approach that tightly integrates compute, cooling, power and supply chain partners from the outset. Deploying Grace-Blackwell architecture today, Firmus' codesign philosophy ensures that future AI accelerator generations are deployable within the same installed infrastructure base.

Firmus' sovereign Australian supply chain — including manufacturing partners Benmax and Maas Group (ASX:MGH) — is already producing AI Factory components at industrial scale to meet this and future commitments. Firmus has committed more than $300 million to its domestic supply chain, establishing advanced manufacturing capacity to support up to 1.5GW of AI facility delivery per year and creating up to 400 highly skilled jobs in advanced manufacturing across Australia. This investment ensures Firmus can deliver on hyperscale demand while building lasting industrial capability on Australian soil.

This first deployment forms part of the broader Project Southgate build-out, backed by a US$10 billion debt facility led by Blackstone. As part of ongoing investment in Southgate capacity, Firmus has progressed with construction of a greenfield AI Factory campus in Tasmania, which will host approximately 36,800 NVIDIA GB300 GPUs and set a new benchmark for energy-efficient AI infrastructure when it is completed in late 2026.
