AI Singapore and Firmus Technologies partner to advance sustainable AI infrastructure

Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), AISG will collaborate with Firmus's Sustainable Metal Cloud (SMC) platform to enhance regional AI capabilities while prioritizing sustainability.

The partnership centers on three key initiatives that combine cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility:

First, AISG researchers and collaborators will gain access to Singapore-based H200 GPUs within SMC's Sustainable AI Factory. These NVIDIA-powered systems feature next-generation immersion cooling technology, reducing operational costs and energy consumption by up to 50%. This infrastructure advancement enables data-intensive AI research at scale.

Second, the partnership will host SEA-LION (Southeast Asian Language in One Network), AISG's specialized suite of open-source large language models. Developed by AISG, SEA-LION is specifically pre-trained and fine-tuned for Southeast Asian languages, addressing complex multilingual tasks like cross-language text analysis, cultural AI applications, and advanced NLP tasks.

Third, the collaboration includes joint research focused on benchmarking AI training and inference workloads across various compute infrastructure configurations and hardware setups. This research will evaluate GPU/CPU/storage performance for key AI applications, helping optimize AI models and unlock deeper industry insights.
