Systems Administrator
ROLE SUMMARY
The Systems Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining and securing the IT infrastructure that supports Firmus’ business operations across regional offices. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of servers, network systems, endpoints, cloud services, and enterprise platforms. The role requires a strong hands-on background in system administration, hybrid Active Directory environments, cybersecurity enforcement, and end-user support. The Systems Administrator also contributes to strategic technology initiatives, including infrastructure modernisation, security posture improvements, and operational efficiency projects. This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented individual with the ability to manage complex systems, provide high-quality support, and collaborate effectively across departments and with external vendors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Senior technical for Firmus corporate IT environment, supporting regional operations across Australia and Singapore, with accountability for stability, security, and continuous improvement.
- Administer and mainta
- in corporate infrastructure and platforms, including Windows and Linux servers, virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox), storage systems, and core corporate services.
- Design, implement, and operate identity, access, and endpoint management across the organisation using Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, and Hybrid Active Directory, ensuring consistent security baselines and least-privilege access.
- Own and continuously improve endpoint security and threat detection, leveraging Cortex XDR, MFA, and vulnerability management practices in alignment with Firmus security standards.
- Support and maintain corporate security systems, including Milestone VMS and Inner Range access control, ensuring reliable and secure physical access operations.
- Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations using Veeam, including regular monitoring, restore testing, and validation of recovery readiness.
- IT onboarding and offboarding for corporate staff, covering account provisioning, device issuance and recovery, access reviews, and audit readiness.
- Administer corporate collaboration platforms (e.g. Slack), including user lifecycle management, integrations, and policy enforcement.
- Maintain accurate corporate IT asset registers and ensure software licensing compliance and renewals (e.g. Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk), including new purchases and vendor coordination.
- Enforce endpoint compliance, configuration standards, and application controls across Windows, macOS, and mobile devices using Microsoft Intune.
- Provide senior-level operational support through Jira Service Management (JSM), handling escalations, root-cause analysis, and service improvement actions.
- Monitor infrastructure health and security posture using centralised logging, monitoring, and SIEM platforms, responding to incidents and contributing to threat investigations.
- Contribute to corporate IT improvement initiatives, including system standardisation, security uplift, and operational maturity.
- Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, SOPs, and audit evidence to support governance and compliance requirements.
- Mentor junior IT staff and contribute to building a resilient, well-structured Corporate IT function at Firmus.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years’ experience in a System Administrator / Senior System Administrator role within a corporate, multi-site, or regional IT environment.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong hands-on experience managing corporate IT infrastructure, including servers, endpoints, and virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox).
- Proven expertise supporting hybrid identity and endpoint environments, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Hybrid AD, and Intune.
- Solid understanding of corporate network design, WAN connectivity, and multi-region operations.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining high availability systems, proactive monitoring, and performance optimisation.
- Strong background in endpoint security and threat detection, including hands-on experience with Cortex XDR, MFA enforcement, and security hardening.
- Practical experience with backup and disaster recovery, particularly Veeam, including restore testing and operational readiness.
- Experience working within ITSM frameworks, with hands-on use of Jira Service Management (JSM).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Effective communicator able to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders, vendors, and management.
- Experience with vendor coordination is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
